Founded in 1871, Ohio Northern University, located in West Central Ohio, is a private university offering a diverse, dynamic and unique learning community, with rigorous professional programs in partnership with the arts and the sciences. Its 3,500 students study for graduate and undergraduate degrees in five colleges: Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration, Pharmacy, and Law. The College of Law was established in 1885. The college consists of a team of scholars, teachers, and administrators working together to enhance the students' education and transition into the profession. It has enjoyed a rich and distinguished history. Many outstanding legal scholars have passed through its doors and gone on to serve as lawyers, judges, scholars, senators, and congressmen.
LL.M. students are each matched with an International Peer Advisor (IPA) during orientation. The IPA is a current ONU law student who lives in the area and serves as a mentor to the LL.M. student during their year of study.
These students are selected based on their interest and experience in foreign nations, language facility, and recommendations. The IPAs, along with college faculty and staff, provide transportation for students to nearby cities on the evenings and weekends, organize group activities, and host students over the holidays.
Ohio Northern's campus offers many services including:
The Office of Multicultural Affairs
The Office of Multicultural Affairssponsors a number of activities designed to promote and educate the campus community on cultural diversity. The office works with student organizations, such as the World Student Organization, the Hispanic Students Organization, and the Muslim Students Association in organizing campus activities and speakers. The University also provides a Multicultural House where students can congregate and hold organizational meetings, while the chapel includes a multi-faith room for diverse religious observances.
Living Arrangements
The LL.M students will reside in campus apartments. Two LL.M students will share a fully furnished, air conditioned, two bedroom apartment with a shared bathroom, living room and fully equipped kitchen. The apartments also include a desktop computer for each student, Internet service, cable television, and local telephone service. All of these services, and the rest of their utilities, are provided through the University.
Students are also provided with a University meal plan which includes meals through all campus dining facilities. Regularly scheduled trips to area grocery stores and to international food markets are available.
Ada
Ada , Ohio is a quaint Midwestern town of 5,582 residents. With a coffee shop on the corner, a boutique downtown across from the local pharmacy, a college pizza parlor, and a movie theatre charging only $3 per ticket, Ada captures the spirit of small town America. The grain elevators and the railroad running through the center of town speak of one dimension, the University with its five colleges and new facilities make a strong statement about another aspect of the American heartland. Studying in an international program in this small town setting allows a focus and interaction with faculty and fellow students that builds an educational foundation unmatched in urban environments.
